We were given the honor of producing an ornament to represent King William County for the Executive Mansion’s “Home for the Holidays” 2016 Holiday Tree. Prestley Barn is one of the most recognizable features of the county, standing near the Pamunkey river and the border with Hanover County. The barn was built nearly 90 years ago by Guy O. Townsend, heir to James L. Townsend’s booming King William dairy company. The farm was in active operation for more than 50 years, and at its height could hold 60 cows at once (and so can our miniature version!). A restoration of the barn was completed in 2014, returning the barn to its characteristic red brilliance.
